Belkin is a well-known name in wireless internet technology. From routers to iPad accessories, Belkin does it all. They also have a Wi-Fi booster that can take your wireless network connection and extend it across dead spots and well beyond your current wireless range. The Belkin Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender is sleekly designed realize the full potential of your home or office’s wireless range.
The Belkin Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender doesn’t have any external antennas, but the technology of capturing your wireless network’s connection and rebroadcasting it is the same as its competitors. We actually like the sleek look of the unit without the antennas. The Wi-Fi booster claims to extend your current wireless range up to 100 feet. This means if you set the unit on the edge of your current connection, it will repeat and rebound the signal across any dead spots you may have. It is compatible with most B, G and N Wi-Fi devices and it will work in conjunction with your router to help your wireless devices to work at their peak when it comes to internet connectivity. Its advanced wireless-N dual band technology will run off of the 2.4 and 5.0GHz band simultaneously for fast internet service.
On the back of the wireless repeater you’ll see indicator lights. These lights show when the unit is working and when it isn’t, flashing different colors to tell you what is wrong with it. The user manual has a breakdown of what each indicator light means.
The back of the unit also houses the reset button, which doubles as the setup button. Push this button for initial connection and any time your router resets. Four Ethernet ports are available for connecting devices to take advantage of the new wireless signal.
This unit is lacking a few features. We really like that you can use other Wi-Fi boosters to manage settings remotely through an IP address or other configuration. Belkin’s version doesn’t have this option. You can configure settings, set up passwords and change security measures online through Belkin’s user interface, but it can’t be managed remotely.
Belkin has a pretty comprehensive help and support system setup for their customers. If you have problems with installation you can call their technical support or chat live with a representative. We had questions regarding the product, emailed support and received a response within 24 hours. Their website also includes a downloadable user manual and FAQs.
Belkin includes a two-year warranty with the Wi-Fi extender, but no matter where you purchased the Belkin Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender, to get warranty-covered service you must send the unit straight to Belkin. They require you to include the following: the part number, where and when you purchased the product, and a copy of original receipt.
The Belkin Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender is probably one of the best-looking Wi-Fi boosters in our lineup. We love that it has the same technology as competing wireless extenders, but hidden inside the unit. A two-year warranty and fabulous customer support make installing and updating the device quite simple. And the four Ethernet ports around back make for convenient connection to external devices. We only wish you could manage the wireless repeater’s settings remotely.
